Chinoiserie Wallpaper is a beautiful series of hand-painted wallpaper designs based on classical Chinese themes including floral and nature scenes which were traditionally used on screens and other decorative objects in NSR HANDCRAFTS.
The style of painting done today is in the same historical style that was used on the original wallpaper that was so popular in Europe starting in the late 17th Century, when these wallpapers were first exported from China. These wallpaper scenes created a mural effect that would cover the walls of an entire room without repeating the design. Today these designs are appropriate for most Dining Rooms, Bed Rooms, Living Rooms and Entryways of today’s interiors. The same painting skills used by Chinese artists thousands of years ago are still used to create these lovely wallpapers.
Our talented Chinese artists hand paint each wallpaper panel with exquisite detail and elegance to create murals of timeless beauty — rich in botanical interest and inhabited by dazzlingly beautiful birds in romantic settings. Each design of the Chinoiseries Collection has at least 20 continuous panels with no repetition of design elements, allowing for a continuous scene of at least 60 lineal feet, usually sufficient for any interior space.
